Solid-state e-bike battery claims surface in UK market

Finnish tyre maker DMACK Nordic plans RFID tags in tyres, says it already meets EU deforestation rules.
Finnish bicycle tyre manufacturer DMACK Nordic has announced plans to become the first in the industry to embed RFID tags into its tyres. The move comes as the bicycle tyre sector prepares for new EU deforestation requirements, with DMACK stating it is already compliant with the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).
RFID tags in tyres could enable traceability from raw material to finished product, a key factor for EUDR compliance. For dealers and distributors, this may simplify documentation and reduce administrative burden when proving that rubber sources are deforestation-free.
DMACK's early adoption positions it ahead of regulatory deadlines. While other tyre makers may need to retrofit tracking systems, DMACK claims current production already meets EUDR standards, potentially offering buyers a smoother transition when enforcement begins.
The integration of RFID technology may also support inventory management and warranty processes. However, the cost impact on tyre pricing and availability remains unclear, as DMACK has not disclosed implementation timelines or any price adjustments.
